Erie Seawolves host #AlternativeFacts Night : Something made Seawolves fans flood the stands Friday, and it wasn't necessarily the baseball. The first one thousand people through the gates took home a 2016 championship ring, celebrating the Seawolves 142 wins and zero losses. Well, pretend celebrating. They didn't actually win. It's just a part of #AlternativeFacts Night. 'It's just a good activity for Erie. It's very economical and it's a lot of fun,' said Pat Wisniewski, a Seawolves fan. A few thousand people came out to the game. The event also proved to be a home run publicity wise too. The Seawolves caught the eye of several national media outlets. 'The more attention we could get for Erie, get people down to the games, the better it is for the wolves and all the fans,' said Larry Howanitz, a Seawolves fan. Fans said that real championship ring might not be so far off after all....

More than 500 students get free backpacks and school supplies : School starts in a few weeks but many parents are feeling the heat. Because, getting kids ready for that first day involves a lot of preparation. That's where Erie's Back to School Summer Jam comes into play. 'We want to make it easier access. Just come to one location, get your backpack, have a great time, get some supplies, and have a good time with your kids and your other family members out here,' said Cliff Crosby, the event coordinator. More than 500 students left Veterans Stadium with a brand new backpack, filled with pens, pencils and other classroom essentials. Volunteers said lending a helping hand goes a long way especially given the school district's budget crisis. 'Just to know that we played our part in helping kids go back to school prepared, seeing as though the district is already going through so much,' said Angela McNair, a Summer Jam Committee M...

Learn ceramics at PACA's Clayspace : Artists from PACA's Clayspace host a cocktails and clay event. Community members learned the basics to ceramics and enjoy a drink, too. Coordinators told us people with all different skill levels can attend the class. They said it's a great way to bring people together and share the arts at the same time. 'People are just looking for something different and something new to try. I think people like going out with their friends and this is a really great thing for people to try out and just see if they like it,' said Kristen Santiago, a ceramics instructor. https://erieclayspace.com/

Dog obedience and rally trial comes to Erie : Canines from the tri-state area and Canada take part in Admiral Perry Obedience Training Club's Obedience and Rally Trial. Dogs showed off their agility skills and tricks. Owners told us the dogs enjoy learning and testing their abilities. They say training a pet is a lot of hard work -- but crucial to the dog's well being. 'He's a high energy dog so if I didn't do anything with him, he would be almost impossible to live with but he likes learning new things. He does some field work. He loves training. It's a way for us to kind of be together,' said Kathy Cunningham, a dog trainer. Organizers say any dog breed can learn to be obedient, as long as they have the proper training.
