New Erie County Library Director

New Erie County Library Director: Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper is pleased to announce the hiring of Erin Wincek as the new Director of the Erie County Public Library.    Wincek, former development director for the Erie Regional Library Foundation, has been serving as interim library director. She will replace Mary Rennie, who retired June 2, in overseeing the Erie County Public Library, which includes Blasco Memorial Library, four branches and the Bookmobile. Wincek will also serve as district administrator for the Erie-Crawford District Library Center.     Wincek, 37, previously served as Erie County’s Blasco Library Coordinator, where she was heavily involved in the creation of the library’s strategic plan and the master plan that is now reshaping Blasco Library. She also served as director of the South Butler Community Library in Saxonburg, where she oversaw additions to the children’s and teen areas. Wincek also brings experience in small business development and 3D printing, both of which are planned features at the library’s forthcoming Idea Lab.     “We are thrilled to have Erin coming on board as library director,” Dahlkemper said. “She not only brings a wealth of library and business experience, but she is in tune with the needs of our community. Under her leadership, the Erie County Public Library will continue to be a thriving, vital asset to all Erie County residents.”    Wincek serves on the Preservation Erie Board of Directors and is co-chair of the Boulevard Park Neighborhood Association, and she is co-owner of Green Heron Coffee, a small-batch coffee roaster start-up. She received a master’s degree in library science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
