Live music fundraiser for non-for-profit Embracing Our Veterans

Live music fundraiser for non-for-profit Embracing Our Veterans: More than 540 thousand veterans suffer from post traumatic stress disorder, and for some the help is hard to come by.   One local organization is trying to change that, one song at a time.   The non-for-profit Embracing Our Veterans hosted a fundraiser, 'Whammi’n ’n Jamm’n 4 Our Veterans.'   Several bands -- some made of up of veterans -- performed at the Oasis Pub.   'You may have served in combat. You wore the uniform. You're strong. You're this lean fighting machine, and you come home and you struggle. You know darn well you can get through it because look what I just came through,' said Kim Lengling, a U.S. Air Force veteran/   Three years ago she and Tina Schiefelbein launched Embracing Our Veterans.   They've supported hundreds of veterans in Erie and Crawford County, including Evelyn Toskin.   'When you're in the military, you're told to go to eat at a certain time. You're told to sleep at a certain time. You're told to be a certain place at a certain time and do certain things. When you get out, you don't have that structure, so you're kind of lost,' said Toskin.    Coordinators told us music is therapeutic to those veterans who are transitioning back into civilian life.   Vinny Stefanelli runs Music for Veterans, a branch of the non-for-profit.    Stefanelli said his program provides veterans with creativity and camaraderie.   'The reward in all of this is someone getting back on their feet. Someone getting back on their feet and succeeding,' Lengling said.    Embracing Our Veterans co-founders told they've provided services to a lot of veterans on a small budget, but money is always a concern.   They said events like these are crucial to make sure they can keep helping out those in need.
