Local university talks safety after OSU incident: After a violent incident at Ohio State University, Gannon University shared it's emergency plans. Gannon University Professor of Criminal Justice, Jerry Clark Ph.D., said Ohio State handled the situation very well. He said the, ' run, hide, fight' strategy , is one university's should utilize. 'Your goal is to stop that threat . You are to stop any threat towards people and make sure that nobody else gets hurt,' said Clark about the Gannon University Police Department. 'Our campus police officers are armed, they are trained police officers, Act 120 certified,' Clark remarked about Gannon's highly trained officers. He told JET 24 Action News the police officers also train the staff about what to do in an emergency. Gannon University also has an alert system to send notifications to students about any danger.
