The decesion paves the way for the school to occupy up to 50,000 square feet in the former steris corporation building at 2424 West 23rd Street. Erie County Gaming revenue luck could be running out
Erie County Gaming revenue luck could be running out : Erie County depends heavily on gaming revenue generated by the casino. The county is concerned that funding could soon be lost. This became an issue last month when the Pennsylvania Supreme Court determined that the local share provision of the gaming act violated the commonwealths constitution. The Supreme Court requires the legislature to pass new legislation with in four months or the local share could be eliminated. Councilman Dr. Kyle Foust composed a resolution the council voted all in favor of tonight. The resolution will be sent to governor wolf explaining the county can not rely just on property taxes. The resolution stating the county has received $52 million since Presque Isle Downs and Casino has opened. It also states the Erie County Gaming and Revenue Authority has dispersed more than $40 million in impact grants throughout the county to improve public spa...

Girard High School Football Program collects cases of water to help Corry : After receiving outside help from several different organizations in the midst of its water crisis, the city of Corry has yet another source of aide this week. With a Friday night gridiron match up pitting Girard against Corry, the Girard High School Football Program gathers at Battles Memorial Field to collect cases of water. It's an effort to support the Corry community after learning neither school would have water at the game. Corry has been without drinking water for nearly a week and as tests continue in the attempt to restore clean water.

Locals hopeful more ice rinks will be constructed : Scoring ice time in Erie is no easy task for teams because of the limited facilities. Gaining two new rinks could make practice and play more convenient. Thousands of people come into the area for hockey games or tournaments each year. That number now in jeopardy after JMC was forced to temporarily shut down for a mechanical problem. As a result a big hockey tournament was canceled and teams were left with out a place to practice because of the lack of ice in the area. Steve Tuholski has been involved with hockey teams in Erie for almost 20 years. He told JET 24 if an additional two ice pads were added at the family first sports complex, it would bring thousands of people into the area. It's something that's going to help boost the economy it's going to create jobs but it's also going to be something for not just hockey it's something for the community, said Tuholski. ...
