SeaWolves win season finale

SeaWolves win season finale: It took 13 innings on Monday afternoon and the SeaWolves came away with a 10-8 win over the Binghamton Mets to wrap up the 2016 season.   The SeaWolves jumped ahead in the second against Mets starter Mickey Jannis. Corey Jones led off and was hit by a pitch. Mike Gerber then walked and a double steal moved both runners into scoring position. Dominic Ficociello hit a bouncer back to the mound and Jones scored around the tag of the catcher for a 1-0 lead. Christin Stewart doubled to the gap in left-center, scoring Gerber and Ficociello making it 3-0. With one out, Drew Longley walked and Harold Castro followed with a base hit, scoring Stewart making it 4-0. With two outs, Anthony Gose singled home Longley and Castro making it 6-0.   The Mets got on the board in the home half of the second against Erie starter Artie Lewicki. LJ Mazzilli tripled with one out and scored on a Raywilly Gomez base hit making it 6-1.   In the third, Phillip Evans led off with a double and moved to third on a fielder’s choice. Evans scored on a Matt Oberste sacrifice fly, cutting the Erie lead to 6-2.   Erie added to the lead in the fourth against reliever Logan Taylor. With two outs, Gustavo Nunez doubled and scored on a Gose single making it 7-2.   In the bottom of the fifth, Champ Stuart singled with two outs and scored on an Amed Rosario base hit making it 7-3.   Binghamton again closed the gap in the seventh. Gomez led off with a double and scored on a Stefan Sabol double to make it 7-4. Sabol would later score on a double play ball, cutting the Erie lead down to a pair of runs at 7-5.   The Mets in cut into the Erie lead once again in the eighth. Oberste led off with a walk against reliever Adam Ravenelle. Oberste moved to second on a Jace Boyd base hit and to third on a groundout. He scored on a Maikis De La Cruz groundout to make it a one-run game.   In the top of the ninth, Erie added an insurance run against reliever Alberto Baldonado. With two outs, Gose blasted a solo home run to right, his sixth, to make it 8-6 Erie.   Binghamton would then tie the game in the bottom of the ninth against reliever Paul Voelker. Sabol and Evans connected on back-to-back singles to start the inning. Stuart laid down a sacrifice bunt, pushing the runners into scoring position. Rosario singled home both runners, tying the game 8-8.   The game would remain tied until the top of the 13th inning. Ficociello led off with a double to give Erie the go-ahead run in scoring position. Stewart followed and sent a laser over the wall in right for a 10-8 Erie lead. The home run was Stewart’s sixth and he finished the game with four RBI.   Ruben Alaniz (4-3) earned the win in relief tossing three scoreless innings in relief allowing four this with two walks and two strikeouts.
