PennDOT will not fund EMTA
PennDOT will not fund EMTA: Pennsylvania Department of Transportation put in writing that they have no intentions of funding the regions' largest transit authority after the charter expires. The charter is expires Wednesday. The letter from PennDOT to the EMTA board director states ' As for funding PennDOT is not willing to continue to provide funding payments to EMTA after September 14, 2016.' The letter also stated EMTA needs to provide a certificate of insurance coverage to PennDOT by noon on Wednesday September, 14th in order for the busses to continue to run. Erie County Council President Andre Horton told JET 24/ FOX 66 he believes the authority will meet the requirements of the insurance. He said he's unsure of what will happen, perhaps it would be better sorted out in court.
